Surprised No, it was a hit movie last year! Jack Nickolson starred in it. It's up for all kinds of Oscars. The director (whatzhisname?) shot all his movies in Iowa. He's from there, me thinketh.

It's neither, and it really doesn't show much if any of Iowa or what it is like. The main character Schmidt lives in Omaha (the writer/director Alexander Payne is orginally from there) and for the good portion of the movie is set in that town, inside buildings, or in his Winnebago. The director does do a lot of Midwestern films (not Iowa specific), but says he's done with them for now. Check it out at http://www.aboutschmidtmovie.com/
