| In the past few months I have had to report the growth of cell phone virues . Yes, just like computers. It has been know for sometime the insecurity of cell phones. Now with cell phones being like mini computers and/or PDA's. The attack have only increased.
I get angry when people sink so low as to invade every aspect of our lives. Malicious hackers force more government regulations and controls to keep them in check. I am not paranoid. I am hoping for a safe a secure world for my family and I.

| Myth and theory if you ask me. I've had a palm for years and now carry a treo phone. Been servicing computers for over 10 years. I've never seen a PDA or phone virus.

My wish is to be able to die without ever having to own a cellphone... unless of course I can get the model like GetSmart had; that was in the heel of a shoe!
That is where I want the transmitter!
The rest of the guts has got to be implantable behind my ear and will have to require no auxiliary power!
Otherwise, I am not getting involved with cellphones!
As they have truly become the pocket protector of the 21st Century!
I watch with great amusement when I see all types of people (any age, any gender, any income level, etc) cooing and petting and rubbing their cellphones..., most times in the most inappropriate places and doing it loudly enough as if no one around them will be bothered knowing whether they are on aisle25 looking for Depends® or aisle13 looking for diapers or aisle66 looking for constipation ointments!
Oh yeah!
I think it is the greatest disservice to make these units with tiny little LCD screens that are totally useless outdoors and/or for those with poor eyesight!
I also think that the user interface should be standardized between all models!
And, oh puhleeeeeease, do I really want to hear some ridicilous sound bite yelping at very hi volumes in public!
Dang, I forgot what the question was... sorry! :harhar: |

After years without a mobile phone, I finally succumbed 3 years ago after my van broke down on my local Motorway
I didn't have any cash on me so I walked miles, round various friends to get a tow and every single one was out!!! I even had to walk home after, although it did wonders for my waistline  ...
It's basic phone and txt and that's it, no camera, no colour screen and mono ringtone  I gave it a little party on it's 3rd birthday
I must admit, I wouldn't be without it nowadays, even though I rarely use it...

My Dad bought me my first cell phone (I had to do the shopping). It was a huge analog, bag phone. He wanted me to have it in the car for protection. My parents live an hour's drive away (on a good driving day) and some of it is over deserted roads. He did not want me to have to endanger myself to call AAA if the car broke down. It came in handy. My husband and I were driving on Interstate 40 in the boonies of NC when we had a blowout. We called for help, they were able to triangulate by satellite to determine our location. A wrecker drove 15 miles to service the car. We followed him back and purchased a tire from him because we did not want to drive on the baby tire. It was a Sat. afternoon and his shop was closed so even if we had hitched a ride to the closest town, we couldn't have purchased a tire.
We both have cell phones for emergencies (mine is a pay as you go $15.90 every 3 months, hubby's is from a local company that was $5/month for years). We don't keep the phones on, no one knows our cell numbers (rather pointless because we never answer calls) and we just carry it in the car or on us in case of an emergency.
When I was using a dialup ISP because I was on the computer all the time, everyone kept getting a busy signal. I have something that plugs into an outlet and you can use the car adapter to plug it in and keep the phone on. I gave a few people that needed to reach us the old analog phone number so they could call when they'd get a busy signal. |

Let us take the thread all the way back to the subject line for a minute:

Although I be more inclined to think that EFcussins really meant:

| Is Nothing sACRed? |
While growing up, one of our neighbors had a terrier named Nothing >> No, really! I am not kidding!
When he was bad his name became Not, all other times we all called him Thing. He was neither Scared nor Sacred!
He also did not have viruses but I recall he was always scratching like he was flea-infested...
I really resisted, from the getgo, not to bring this to your attention but I could no longer hold back! |

Back to the original topic, that's the beauty of my ol' 'minibrick' ... voice and SMS only means no virus threats to my mobley
It apparently does have internet access, but at 30p/minute (50c), I've never used it...

No, not really! The bad want to invade your peace and quiet at every turn in the road!
'Electronic Leashes' invade the population, so much now that California is considering a law requiring hands-free headsets for cell phones now.
I mean, the other day, a woman was putting on mascara with one hand, talking on the phone with the other!!! Who was steering the van??? Her teenage daughter - from the passenger side!!!!
What kind of responsible example is that??!!??!!??!!
I'm surprised she wasn't using her toes to put on her lipstick!!!
Then they complain when they get a ticket!!!
I have 2 'electronic leashes', both have headsets, people get confused, they don't know which one I'm talking on!!! Sometimes I don't know either...
Cheers! |
