SIMS 2 won't load up

When I try and load my Sims 2 it will not finish. It goes to that blue screen with all the different shades of blue squares. the bar fills to about half way then shows an alert saying that the program crashed and it will be terminated.
please help.
i need my sims.

also... just more details for you

it crashes when it says about the wheel barrings.
I did download custom objects from sites, also.
