SIMS 2 EXPANSION INSTALLATION PROBLEM

I have original sims 2 and whenever i try to install the expansions i get to where it updates and asks for disc 4 then halfway through it says an error has occured. I have copied the game to my comp as an iso and used deamon tools with it, with no joy. I have also restarted the computer when it asks for disc 4 as advised by someone, this seemed to be working but now only sims 2 ands pets are working...they are installed but are not available in game play. can anyone help me as i have been trying to fix this problem for about a week now Sad

I have the same problem, and I also had original disk with The sims2 installation but expansion packs were not all legal. I downloaded them from internet, all exept the university, thats also legal, and I have on CD but I can't install that eather. I can tell you what I tried, maybe you will have more luck. So first you may have that problem if something isn't legal. If thats not problem you should uninstall all sims2 on your computer, clean temp. internet files, clean registries, scan your computer for any viruses or spywere, close all windows, turn off firewall, or that antivirus program that you used to clean your files. Install the sims2 again and than install patch for your the sims2 game. You can download that patch from orifficial site for sims (http://thesims.ea.com/), it's free, and can fiks some problems, and after that try to install expansions. I know that sounds like hard work, but thats the procedure after you can be sure you done all good, and if you don't be able to install expansion after all, well .... welcome to the club Very Happy

Sorry, but thats I tried and I still can play just regular the sims2 and expansion for Christmas. I also download new drivers for my graphic card, and make an image for that original cd, try to disable cd-rom and nothing works for me. I hope you have more luck. Very Happy

Thank you for your help i will deffinatly try it. all my sims worked until i wiped my computer 2 weeks ago due to me getting a mejor virus it is only since then it has not worked. I've got my fingers crossed now.

I've installed the main Sims 2 game and it works fine. But every time I try to install my legal copies of the expansion packs the installation fails. It fine until I get up to the part where it updates. When I get to that point I get a window saying:

?.???2Disc4?CD/DVD-Rom??????????

With the options:

Ok
?????

I tried clicking ok but the window keeps popping up. When I press ????? another box comes up saying:

The update process did not complete successfully. Installation will now terminate.

With the option:

Ok

If it helps, my laptpop is a Dell inspiron 1520

*Edit* Never mind. I realised that I had to insert disc 4 of the main Sims 2. I didn't think to do that before because I never had to do that on the other computers.

hi....
i need with my the sims 2.
i copy all the files from the disc of the sims 2 that i borrow from my cousin and paste it at my computer..and name it disc 1,2,3 and 4.
then i start to burn the files to my CD-R i bought...
after the burn was completer,i start to install the game and all works fine..
i get the expansion pack.i have about 3-4 expansion pack.
firstly i try installed apartment life..all works until it comes to the end..where its going to apply/check for the sims 2 update..
then when it was applying update,a popup appear and asking doe the sims 2 cd 4 to continue the process..i insert the cd 4 that i burn into my DVD rom and press ok but sadly it did not work..i press ok for about more than 50 times but still!!!
BTW the game that i copy is Original.
Please help me!i really need to play!

Heyy y'all! JW if anyone is having the same problemzzz

i installed sims 2 double deluxe on my new laptop (Dell Studio 1536) and it was fine...then i installed university.....when i put disks in my comp. for some reason they are not always recognized right away (i know this because AutoPlay does not open!) n i have to eject them and put them in again and again....well i want to install seasons and freetime but the disks are not installing....autoPlay does not open so the process doesnt even start Crying or Very sad

...all the disks installed fine on my old comp. both times i had to install (the original time and then after it crashed Mad

) i hav almost all of the EPs and Stuff packs and i hav had them for some time now...the warrenty is up on all of them so i cant take them back (i already used them too).... does anyone know what the issue is????

im not sure if copying the disks will allow the full ability of the game....isnt it illlegal? and u might need to recopy it...or use a different disk...try tech support or something..sorry!
