MIAMI (AP) - Ricky Williams will sit out another season.
The NFL suspended the troubled Miami Dolphins running back for one year Tuesday after he violated the league's substance abuse policy for the fourth time.
Williams met April 10 with NFL counsel Jeff Pash in an attempt to have the league overturn the test. He had been participating in the offseason training program at the Dolphins' complex, and he was there working out shortly before league announced that his appeal had been rejected.

| Wow! I never saw that coming!
At least it happened before the draft.

I am glad that the Browns passed on him. |

How many chances can a guy get and still blow it? Someone will probably give him another one in '07 though.

This could be interesting.
Ricky Williams draws CFL look
| Quote: |
Ricky Williams has to sit out the 2006 NFL season for failing a fourth drug test, but a Canadian Football League franchise is making a pitch for the suspended tailback.
The Toronto Argonauts placed Williams on their 35-player negotiations list, which means that they own exclusive rights to contact him...
Williams still owes the Dolphins $8.6 million for breaching his contract in 2004. |
Maybe the Dolphins can garnish his salary. |

Theismann: Ricky Williams 'disgrace'
| Quote: |
Former Toronto Argonauts and NFL quarterback Joe Theismann called newly signed CFL running back Ricky Williams a "disgrace to the game" in a verbal assault on two different radio interviews Tuesday.
"I don't ever want to be mentioned in the same breath as Ricky Williams as a football player. He's a disgrace to the game," Theismann told ESPN radio. "The man doesn't deserve to play football. He should go on with his life and treat his drug addictions or go do whatever he wants to do.
"He's been suspended from the National Football League on multiple occasions. Doesn't anybody have any class anywhere?" |
Theismann denies rant linked to son's drug case
| Quote: |
| Former pro quarterback Joe Theismann, who garnered national attention Tuesday with his harsh criticism of new Toronto Argonauts running back Ricky Williams, said his strong stance against the admitted marijuana user has nothing to do with the drug charges that landed his own son on probation three years ago. |
I think it has more to do with ratings than his son's drug case.
Doesn't ESPN have any class any more? That's rhetorical. Chris Berman's existence proves that ESPN never had any class in the first place.
Another reason that I watch it only for college football. |

Although I do not believe that what Theismann said should have been broadcast, I do believe that what he said is true:

I also do not care for ESPN. I don't like the way that they jump all over the place. They start off giving MLB scores then part of the way through they jump to another sport and then come back to MLB.
A better way would be to give all the scores from one sport and then move to another sport. It is like a tease to keep you watching. BS. |

Is that team play? Trashing a member of your team on public television?
