Allo Falcon and welcome to the Lockergnome Forums Smile

Try here for help with the chip reset.

It don't look promising though, it seems like you need 4 cartridges to 'rotate' through the printer Sad ...

My HP 5650 cartridges can be reset by 'blanking' 2 copper connectors on the cartridge and then inserting them in printer. This might apply to your 9110 as well, but I couldn't find any info, as to which connector...

Perhaps another Gnomie here can help out with this one... Confused

First Thank you for the warm welcome, and wow for the fast response, lol. While I respect Companies for their time and effort to design and produce their products, HP is really starting to lose my respect. If they are going to use these tactics of using smartchips and rob me, then I have no problem of finding a way around it! Look, I spent over $600.00 for my printer so they got a chunk of my change don't you think, lol?

I think I know what you mean by blanking, but can you be more exact? lol.

Laughing I agree, but unfortunately, t'other printer companies are also introducing the chips into their cartridges as well Sad ...

As I say, there must be a way round it... The last refill kit I got for my HP has a little sheet of sticky labels to stick over certain contacts. I blank one, stick it in the printer, run a test page off, then remove and remove the label and blank another contact and repeat. After the 2nd test page, I remove the cartridge, remove the label and it's ready to go...

Sadly, each cartridge style has a different contact layout, so my obstruction sheet would be useless to you...

PS Did you know that, in the UK, ink prices are higher than top-quality champagne??? That's where the rip-off lays...

You got to be kidding me about ink being higher then champagne??? I have not been in the UK since 1988 when I transferred back stateside after serving 2 years at RAF Upper Heyford.

The cheapest (black) cartridge I could quickly find for your 9110 printer translates to $35.93 at today's rate. The colour cartridges average out to about $44.23 each!!!!

Not a bad return for 20-40 ml of dye....

You could try the suggestions in either of these two links.

http://www.misterinkjet.com/hp56reset.htm

I just reset mine (HP PSC 1100), and it worked fine, it's reading full again now. I found a similar site last year, after I found out the price of a genuine HP cartridge. I reckon I must have refilled the black cartridge at least 20 times in the 18 months I've had the printer.

I hate it when manufactures try to nail us to the wall like that. If I want to refill my own that should be my business.

Corporate greed!

Oh btw, this site has very good quality cheap bulk ink...

I wish I had stock in that place Smile

Don't ya jus hate it?

The printer might just cost $49, or $69 or even $99, but ink for a years printing can easily be $100 to $200 at store prices.

My first solution to the printing problem is to only buy Epson Printers.
That's primary! They've been the leader in ink jet technology for ages.

Then, I buy After Market cartridges that can be refilled.
Add to that a cheap little Chip Resetter and you're well on your way to a lot of printing at a very low price.

When one of my six carts runs out of ink, I squirt some more ink in it, slap on the resetter for about 2 seconds and reinstall the cart in the printer. The printer thinks I've just installed a new cart. Cheap, simple and efficient.

If I were doing more printing, on an everyday basis, I'd opt for the Continuous Flow system, sold by my Ink Supplier right here in FL.
http://www.inkproducts.com

Ink flows from supply-bottles sitting beside the printer, through little tubes into special carts that never need resetting. When a ink bottle gets emply, you just stick on a new bottle and keep right on printing.

For those who do massive amounts of color printing, that's the way to go.

Happy Printing,
Shadow Cool

Hi TheShadow
Yes, I have seen those continous ink systems... What a cool idea. I just recently got a Canon IP6000D, bought a good supply of ink, and am now very seriously considering buying the continous ink system.
The great part is once installed, you never even have to open the lid anymore Smile

Initial cost is fairly high...
$200 CDN for the printer
$85 for 6 x 250 ml of ink
$90 for the continous ink system

But considering how long that will last, its better than buying throw away printers Smile

I'm off to work... have a good day folks...
