Hmmmm, that seems a bit odd to me

His sweaty legs came into contact with the computer's internal wiring, likely causing a short circuit.

According to the newspaper, which drew from a report in the Chinese-language Eastday.com, police and medical respondents found blood in the dead man's nostrils and bruises on his legs.

The computer's internal voltage can reach as high as 380 volts in power-storage capacitors, which is enough to give a deadly shock.

If he opened the case as reported, the only place that 380V can be found is inside the sealed power supply. Outside the PSU is 12V and lower!!!

Summat strange, here.

Maybe he was actually working on the computer monitor, where 25,000 volts abides. That'll knock your socks off!!!!

Yep, it certainly wakes you up and blows away the ol' cobwebs!!!

I received a few of them when mending TV's, many years ago. The normal reaction is to jerk back away from the source, but when you have what's basically a very big glass vacuum bomb in your hands, you DON'T LET GO!!! Wink

According to the news report though, he only removed the PC's cover to help prevent overheating.

Quote:
The man, identified only by the common family name of Wu, had apparently opened his PC's case to prevent its central processing chip from overheating — because he didn't want to turn his air conditioning on.
