Cannot Remove Hard Disk from Computer

I am running out of space on my Dell Optiplex GX 270 and I bought a new hard drive that will work with my computer. For some reason I am unable to disconnect the power cable for the hard drive and there is some box over the top of the connector the goes into the hard drive. So no matter how hard I pull the cable does not come out. So how do I remove the power connector for the hard drive do I can replace the hard drive

Dell does some really obscene things with their connectors.

I've seen some SATA drives that had little silver latches on the plugs to the drive. One would have to press DOWN on the release before pulling out the plug, or the plug will be damaged.

That's about all I can tell you.

Hello,

You may have to pull on alternate sides of the power connector in order to "wiggle" it lose.

I would suggest checking the Dell Optiplex GX270 manual for instructions on how to properly remove the hard disk drive from the computer. It should be available from Dell's support web site.

I checked the manual on dell's website and it was no help it just said to remove the cables and not how to remove them, but thanks anyways

Were you able to remove it using a wiggling motion? Also, did you check per DrWho07's suggestion for a locking tab on the connector?

Is this a PATA drive, or a SATA drive? The 270 can come with either.
