Hello,

I happened to come across this 'Registry Easy' Program, which apparently greatly improves computer performance. The only thing I'm worried about, is that it actually looks into the system, and removes files (missing links, empty keys, left over program files and more). One can make a restore point (backup).
Can it wreck the computer (worst case: it doesn't boot anymore), or that something doesn't work anymore. Something not working anymore shouldn't be too big a problem, as I can restore the previous state. But the computer not booting would be bad.
It's 'certified for windows vista' and is tested against hackers daily. The reviews are all positive.
Can I trust Registry Easy?

Never heard of it!
That means I wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw a Volkswagen.

Why not just download and use "Easy Cleaner 2", a program that's been written up many, many times here and on other forums as SAFE and EFFICIENT at cleaning up both a HD and a registry.

"Easy Cleaner 2" Can be downloaded from:
http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm
Just scroll down to "Download & Installation" and click on the first floppy disk symbol.

You don't have to go off into uncharted waters when you have easy access to something that's tried and true. And, it's FREE!

Good Luck,
Doc

I too don't know how reliable the program you are looking at is. Some are really bad.
CCleaner can clean the registry and it will also offer to save what it is removing. Always select YES. Then if your computer starts acting weird, just undo what was last removed from the registry. (It will show the dates). I've used it safely on 98SE, ME and 2K computers.

the latest version works with Vista. Since you are using Windows in German, the full version will also download other languages so you don't have to translate from English to German to figure out what is going on.

If you've never cleaned the registry, it will find lots of things. Don't select everything. Do 50 - 100, let it clean them and then use the computer for a few days then go back in and let it clean another 50-100. Keep repeating every few days until it only finds a few items.

I seem to have forgotten to reply to this post. Thank you for the answers! I've downloaded both, and have tried CCleaner. It may have caused some problems with an external HD, but I don't know if that had to do with the registry cleaner, as the same problem occurred again after I'd stopped using the cleaner. I'm planning to try Easy Cleaner soon.
