Reconnecting laptop to a home network

I have gotten a new laptop and moved my old one into another room to use as a very basic info station. I am trying to reconnect it to one of the same two networks that it used before and it isn't finding ANY networks now. This makes NO sense because the computer I am typing on (the new laptop) is sitting right next to it and finds them just fine. My husbands iPad does as well and our daughter's nurses have no problem with their computers! But the "old" one isn't even finding the several other networks in the neighborhood!

At this point the computer in question (An Inspiron 9400) is actually closer to the router it was using. It has wireless AND a wireless adapter but neither are picking up either network!

Does anyone have any suggestions??? Sad

Hello,

Does the computer have any security software on it? If so, have you tried temporarily uninstalling it to see if that makes any difference?

Actually, no. I will mention that to hubbs and have him try that. We did have to reset our router and that didn't make a difference. Just don't know why this computer (which HAS worked in here before) isn't working in here now.
