| In a frank and private memo sent today to Republican National Commitee members, the RNC chairman acknowledges that the GOP has grown too addicted to ideology, places politics before policy, and is bereft of ideas -- and that it's imperative that the party shift towards a genuine effort to develop concrete policy solutions to people's problems in order to rescue itself. |
The GOP has shot itself in the Midwest foot by not developing policy solutions to the auto crisis....

That memo was quite insightful, thanks Ken. I'm a bit surprised you would publish something like that though since you obviously don't like the Republicans. After reading the entire text I am hopeful that the Republicans will stop thier slide to the left that got them in the mess they are currently in. The chairman is right. The Republican party has been in this state before and come back stronger each time. I expect after the mess we are headed into that they will do so once again. Considering that it is indeed time to form the ideas that will lead the party to victory in the comng years.
As for the auto crises President Bush was the one without a policy solution. his willingness do go along with the Democrat/UAW solution was no solution at all. The republicans had a very good poilcy solution towards it...choose bankruptcy or have the UAW and the auto execs come together and forge an agreement that reflects the realities of the 21st century. The union made its choice and we now find themselves waiting to see what the Obama camp will do for them. I'm not a Republican but they tend to to be rooted far more in reality and support what I believe in far better than the dreamers on the left so I say good luck to them. |
