Video:

First let me say that the protesters were wrong. I disagree 100% with Obama on his stance that there should be no restrictions on abortion and that no doctor/nurse/hospital should be allowed to have a moral objection. However, there is a time and place for protests, and during a speech is not it - outside should have been fine.

However, I can't help but be reminded of the interruptions during Bush speeches in the 2004 election. I remember him being ridiculed for not being able to provide better security. Can we now ridicule Obama?

First off, if (and this is a big "if") there were any security lapses it was definitely not Bush's or Obama's fault. There will always be protesters as long as there are people with differing opinions. It's going to happen to anyone no matter which end of the political spectrum they are on. Dissension is healthy. Without it there would be no USA, no British PM, no French President, etc.

Can you ridicule Obama for it? Sure. Go for it. That's your right. However you won't be anymore correct than the people that ridiculed Bush. Or Clinton. Or Bush. Ad infinitum. Really not infinitum; only 40 more times.

Were there holes in the security? I would have to say emphatically "No". Again, the protesters will be there. The only way to stop the interruptions is to repeal the Constitution's First Amendment or make everyone pass a psychiatric evaluation before they can enter a hall where a politician is to speak.

But then only three people would be allowed in.

And not one of those allowed would be a politician. So the attendees would hear nothing but a symphony of crickets.

Maybe that's not such a bad idea after all.
