|
|
Hi There,
I was looking for the answer to my query via google and came across an old thread where the user who had a similar issue was told:
If Asian Language support is enabled (not selected), then the crop marks
>> will be displayed. Have you checked in Office, Languages?
>> Terry Farrell - MS Word MVP
This is exactly what is happening to me (I stupidly clicked yes to a "do you wish to intal asian language support in order to view this doc" box lastnight) and I really really want to get rid of the crop marks/inverted corners at both top and bottom of my document.
Thing is though - I go into the Start > All Programmes > Office Tools > Microsoft XP Office Language Settings, and then the fun begins.
It keeps looking for an installer, telling me I need to install the XP Office with Front Page CD - Which I dont have.
How How How can I sort this out!?
Many Thanks,
Elizabeth. |

| See if this will work.
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and remove Microsoft Office that's showing up in Windows Installer.
If that doesn't do the job, then you will need to get the Office install CD in that case. Some component seems to be missing and it's looking for the CD before it will continue.

Cool, Thanks.
By doing this though, it wont delete the whole Microsoft Office Programmes will it??
Im mid way through my final dissertation which is due next friday - it would be catastrophic if MS Word totally disappeared or something!
Thanks. |

Wow, mate - tried using this little utility, hmmm, fun and games ensued!
I read the Microsoft info on it, and was still unsure, but then saw this quote " The installer info for that program should disappear, but the program will not" from here:
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/08/02/remove-corrupt-configuration-d...-with-w
Yeah rite!
I did the buisness and then tried going into MS Word - no joy. Did it from the start menu, the desktop shortcut, the My Computer list, nothing.
It kept saying something to the effect of "this shortcut is only intended for installed programmes" or something like that.
Had to go down the system restore route which, ironically, fixed the problem with the asian language thing anyway!
So, I dont believe that that wizard just fixes the intaller problems and leaves the programme intact!
Anyways, now my notebook is acting all peri-crash on me, going proper sluggish in IE7 and everything, oh well! |

| If you can't get into MS Word at the moment, then you might find that the OpenOffice free office suite is a viable alternative. It will enable you to create, edit & save Word documents. It could be the answer if you want to work on your dissertation over the weekend. |
