I see a bunch of you are staying 4 nights and I'm trying to figure out why.

For me it just seems to make the pace more relaxing... My first Gnomedex I drove in from Chicago on the day of and by the time I arrived I was just bushed. I ended up skipping the soire (big mistake) and felt like I didn't have the full GDex experience.

Last year I came in early to be available to help with the setup and to get an early start on meeting and greeting new folks/old friends.

This year it made sense to do the same again plus Seattle's got a couple of sites (Sci-Fi, Experience Music) that I may try and catch on Thursday.

Anyone up for catching Star Wars on Wednesday night?

In the end we decided on the Coast Paramount. My kids looked at it and said "Eloise at the Plaza!", so that clinched it. Just three nights, though.

Plus, a lot of the other places are filling up. I can recommend the Mayflower Park too -- we've stayed there before.

Found nice hotel with internet access for 99.00 plus tax. It is about 1.5 miles from the convention center but hopefully it will be nice weather for a walk. These are suites with kitchen, very new (2001).

I don't mind walking a dozen blocks, and I like interesting environments. I'm at the Vance at about $130/night.

Hello,

I am staying at the Edgewater until after Gnomedex then switching to a hotel in Redmond to meet with some former colleagues who happen to be in town.

Regards,

The tour guide at the top of the Space Needle told us that The Beatles stayed at the Edgewater while performing in Seattle at the height of their U.S. invasion.
