| People just need to read what they are paying for.

| Not everyone is buying a computer "upgrade". What if it's their first computer? I'd venture to say 95% of new computer buyers are are purchasing the "stock" OEM versions by HP and Dell, etc. They have no idea what to read up on before making a purchase. They will assume and rightly so, that whatever they pay upwards of a thousand bucks for should work out of the box. |

WELL, if you go to Circuit City you can get an EMachine or Acer for $399 after rebates. But that aside,,,,,,most of those cheap PC's will barely run the el'cheapo (chopped and crippled version) Vista basic.
I built my own PC to test Vista Ultimate. My Pc, just the parts, cost me over $600. The OS, I got for free from M$. NO, it's not a hack job or pirated copy.
But, with the demands that Vista Ultimate puts on that system, I'd hate to try to run it on a $399 computer.

It's five months later......
and I'm installing more and more computers with Vista.
Most are Name Brand from the Big-Box shops.
I'm amazed at how many are barely able to run Vista Home.
With the huge load of Services and bloatware installed, one gig of ram is hardly sufficient.
I trim, tune and delete and am able to get most PC's to run half way decent with Vista Home, but only half way......
They still require 2 to 4 gigs to really get up and running great, depending on the software being run.
WELL, nothing new,,,,, we had the same problem in the early days of Windows XP. Machines coming out with only 128 or 256 megs of ram.
I found out on my own PC that XP-Pro doesn't run really great till you get 2 gigs of DDR2 installed.
Same old crap......the hardware lags the software. Nothing really new!
Cheers!

The biggest problem with Vista is not the machine its running on, but other software. At our local college, they use blackboard for students to commuicate with the professors and do a lot of online communication. Those students with Vista are out of the loop because its not compatibale. Hell, even some of micrsofts own software isn't compatible. Error: image could not be loaded. When folks made the big move from 98 to XP they had very similar problems.
Peripherals didn't work, many programs wouldn't work.....it was a real donnybrook.
I remember the day that I did my own upgrade to XP........
XP didn't like my modem, sound card or scanner. I had to replace them all.
Some people are experiencing the same type of thing when they attempt to go from XP to Vista.
It will all get sorted out in time.....that is time and MONEY.

I'm still installing new PC's with Windows Vista Home installed.
The OS isn't so much of a problem as all the crapola installed on the HD by the PC manufacturer. There autta be a law against it.......
The program The "Decrapifier" is the answer to the problem. It will list and so delete most of the crap that the manufacturer puts on the HD.
But, nothing is perfect.........there is still one thing that the Decrapifier doesn't delete.........it's "Wild Tangent".....a real piece of crap.
Total Spyware.
You'll have to delete that one yourself.
Do it! You'll be glad you did.
Cheers mates !
