Running a well-specified dual core PC with Vista Home Premium, SP1 and fully updated. System is running (relatively) problem-free Smile
In addition to the usual suspects, I have installed Office 2007, including Outlook 2007, prior to which I had been using Outlook Express.
System is scanned regularly, and apparently free of malicious nasties.

Within Outlook 2007 I have installed the MS add-on, Outlook Connector (confirmed as the most recent version available). The reason for this add-on is to allow me to access Hotmail accounts etc via Outlook, rather than having to use the online interface.
Multiple (Hotmail) accounts have been added and configured correctly within Outlook Connector, and this scenario allows me to sucessfully download and send email via my various Hotmail accounts, subject to the correct account password being supplied for each one ... and herein lies the problem Shocked

Each Hotmail account is configured, with the correct password, and the option to save the password is activated for each account ... yet each time I open Outlook and initiate the Send All / Receive All button, I am asked to individually complete each password for each Hotmail account (9 accounts!) ... and a few seconds later, it asks me to do it all over again! Shocked
Tedious, verging on annoying Confused
Other email accounts within Outlook (but outside of Connector) work perfectly OK, with passwords stored correctly, and if I initiate subsequent Send / Receive commands within the same session, all Hotmail accounts then also connect correctly, as at this stage the passwords HAVE been retained.
BUT, close and re-open Outlook, and it happens all over again Evil or Very Mad
I've deleted the Hotmail accounts, uninstalled and reinstalled Connector (several times over the weeks), and added the Hotmail accounts from scratch, but still have the same problem.
So far, I've drawn a virtual blank with online searches, and seeking advice from MS drew a blank when I could not supply them with further details (the software is correctly registered to me, and legit, but came as part of a bulk licence deal, and I can't retrieve the necessary info for at least three weeks ... Christmas etc!)

Can anyone out there please throw any light on this problem ... which appears to be quite common according to Google ... (that doesn't involve ditching Outlook and installing Thunderbird? Very Happy )
Thanks, and regards,
Peter W

Hello,

I wonder if their might be a permissions problem with saving the passwords.

Try running the actual executable from Microsoft Outlook (filename: OUTLOOK.EXE - it is likely to be located in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ or similar directory) as Administrator by navigating to the directory in Windows Explorer, right-clicking on the OUTLOOK.EXE file and selecting Run as Administrator from the popup menu.

Go ahead and enter the passwords as you normally would, save them and then try checking your various accounts. Does the problem still occur?

Now exit Microsoft Outlook and run it with your normal account privileges to see if the passwords are still saved.

Hi, thanks for the effort Smile Unfortunately, it made no difference, but it got me thinking ..... I had a look at the executable for Outlook Connector. Sure enough, it runs without Admin privileges, by default. I changed that option, to allow it to run WITH Admin privilege ... but the bad news is that it made no difference Rolling Eyes
Ah well, back to square 1 Very Happy

Hello,

Was it working before and it just stopped, or is this a new configuration which has never saved the passwords?

Hi ... sorry about the delay. Just became a dad again - - - at 51 years old! Laughing Laughing Laughing
Afraid I need to move the goal-posts a little, but to answer your question; the problem has ben there since initial installation, and throughout subsequent un-installs and re-installs of updated versions.
However, on closer inspection I realise that I've not been taking quite enough notice of the problem. Embarassed
It would appear that the passwords to all the Hotmail accounts ARE being retained by Connector, but are not being utilised. To explain, as Connector (within Outlook) tries to access each Hotmail account, a little box pops up asking for login and password details.
These are already completed (i.e. 'remembered'), but the small checkbox for 'remember password' is at this stage unchecked.
If I subsequently check this box and hit 'OK' (or alternatively, clear all boxes and re-enter login details and password, then check the 'remember' box and hit OK), I get access to my Hotmail accounts, then, and repeatedly within the same Outlook session.
However, new Outlook session, same problem raises its head Rolling Eyes
Still stumped, I'm afraid Confused
