Haven't been here in awhile so I'll just post a log the way it was done the last time I was here. Anyway, some how or another, I (or my parents) picked up that annoying Outerinfo spyware bug and I can't seem to get it off. I need you guys to bail me out (again, lol). My parents are a bit of cheapskates and I'm only on a 56k so anything that doesn't require a ton of downloads would be appreciated.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad.

1. Download combofix http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6A694EAF-DA4A-DBEE-4B67-FB8DB823D5BC} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\aqd.dll

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\aqd.dll

Restart and run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Well, it must have worked. I don't have the problem anymore.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects]
"{6A694EAF-DA4A-DBEE-4B67-FB8DB823D5BC}"=-

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards.

Uninstall Viewpoint via the Add/Remove panel if found.

Delete these:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\aqd.dll
C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\APPLIC~1\Viewpoint

Restart and run combofix again. Post that log here along with a new HijackThis log.

Still running normally now?

Everything worked fine for a day or so but since my last post, it all came back. I've tried repeating the steps again but it doesn't work. It always reloads itself. It also won't let me delete the Viewpoint. Do I need to be in safe mode?

Yes, try deleting that Viewpoint folder in Safe Mode. Make sure you uninstalled it already first.

Print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Download VundoFix at http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 and save it to your desktop.
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Click 'Scan for Vundo' button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the 'Remove Vundo' button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer. click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.
* Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt here.

Download AVG Anti-Spyware at http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ and install it.

Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
On the main screen select the 'Update' icon.
Next select the 'Start Update' button. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the update has completed select the 'Scanner' icon at the top of the screen, then select the 'Settings' tab.
Once in the Settings screen, click on 'Recommended actions' and then select 'Quarantine'.

Under Reports:
Select 'Automatically generate report after every scan'.
Un-Select 'Only if threats were found'.

Click on the Scan tab and choose to run the 'Complete System Scan' . Post the report here when it's done.

Fix these in HijackThis:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {31631AF8-DE1D-DAE1-4B67-FB8DB82287B5} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\nybbcf.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {35634DAE-D51C-DAED-1267-FB8DB82286EE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cbs.dll (file missing)

Delete these:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\nybbcf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SmFzb24

Restart and run a new combofix scan. Post that log here along with a new HijackThis log.

The Vundofix scan didn't find anything. The problem seems to have gone away again after I repeated the process.

Are there still any problems now?

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Download the newest version at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe and run it.

Before you give us a new log here, if we gave you instructions for a fix, do the fixes first and then post the new log with this updated version.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the HijackThis log here.
