Open source earns legal victory | News.blog | CNET News.com
Quote:
The open source software operations of IBM, Red Hat and Novell need not fear prosecution under antitrust laws, a federal appeals court has ruled.

Plaintiff Daniel Wallace had sued the open source giants, contending that they had conspired with the Free Software Foundation and others to offer their wares at an "unbeatable" price (read: free), thereby squeezing competing alternatives from enterprising software writers like Wallace out of the market. (Wallace, according to court documents, wanted to compete with Linux, "either by offering a derivative work or by writing an operating system from scratch.")

A three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit disagreed, upholding an earlier decision by a lower court. (continued)

Great news for those of us who use open source software such as Linux, Firefox, Thunderbird & OpenOffice.

This is a case where the idiot involved should have to pay for all the time and money he caused us tax payers to waste. If stupid law suits started costing thes people money, we'd see a lot less of them!

Well put.....and one of my pet peeves.

Our courts are jammed up with frivolous law suits.
If the people bringing those suits would be heavily fined, most of those frivolous suits would never make it before 'the Bench'.
And our courts could get on with the business of providing "Speedy Trials" to the murderers, rapists and robbers.

Well, the Dem's are in charge now.....all that will be fixed.
Right?

Me Cool
