Oblivion GOTY install stalls on a Vista box

I recently got Oblivion goty and can't seem to install it on my Vista machine. As it was originally written for xp I tried to google installation issues, but the only significant advice I found was to install it somewhere other than C:/Programs to avoid UAC issues, which I needed to do anyway due to lack of space on my C partition.

My first attempt almost finished, but hung on Voices2.bsa. after waiting 90 minutes (yes, I try to be patient) I cancelled the install, did a system restore, and deleted the installation folders. I tried again first right clicking the setup.exe file to run as administrator. That time it hung much earlier in the process, at textures.bsa.

Any suggestions?

Just wanted to let everyone know my problem has been solved. 2 things happenned since the previous post. First. I got a new, large hard drive, and secondly, as someone chosen to host a win7 launch party, I got a retail version of Win7 Ultimate. Oblivion goty installed fine on Win7 on the new hdd.. Not sure which of those 2 factors did the trick, but my money is on it having been a Vista bug.
