Quote:
President-elect Barack Obama Monday abandoned any hope of an Inauguration Day bill-signing for his economic stimulus plan, but kept up the pressure on Congress to get him a bill by early February at the latest.

“We’ve got to act boldly and we’ve got to act swiftly,” Obama said.

Obama and Democratic leaders had hoped to pass a bill in time for Obama to sign after his swearing-in Jan. 20 – but political and fiscal reality intruded, amid objections by Republicans and even some Democrats to rushing through a plan that could cost $775 billion..........

Source.

While everyone understands we need to do something only a fool (yes I know I'm talking about congress) would rush into this without taking the time to look it over like they did with the financial bailout.

Quote:
He also told reporters that there must be a balance between a massive and rapid infusion of economic stimulus, and responsible moves that set the stage for long-term growth. He also called for greater transparency in the process and said he was considering posting the stimulus-bill language on his website for the public to see........

That would be a good idea.

Being the mindless bunch they are congress would only be following the course set by our new soon to be leader and when it comes to fools thats a glass slipper I'd dare him to try on if you know what I mean.

Not just republicans ej Democrats too. Just goes to reinforce the argument of why this needs to be very public and very transparent and not be rushed through. Especially after the fiasco of the bank bailout.
On a side note. Obama said something about posting the legislation on his website before a vote, I think that would be a good idea because the people would get a chance to look it over and provide some input on it before it goes to a vote, that could influence the vote and help keep the pork out as much as possible or at least expose it IMHO.

Sure, but the Dems claim to be better than that.
