| What I found amazing was the comments I received from the article, which are also worth reading. Seems there are a lot of vocal folks who have had similar experiences with Norton.

Rons,
I'm not surprised by the number of well known and technically adept people that don't like Norton and have posted their comments about it all over the World Wide Web,,
but, what slays me is the number of people who, I guess, have never read any of the warnings and still come on forums wanting to know how to install the latest upgrades from Norton. They're having problems with it, or they wouldn't be on the internet looking for help, but that doesn't seem to offer them a clue that it's not a good program. They just keep slogging along paying Symantec more money for the same old crap.
Well, when people around here finally have had enough of it, they call me to remove it. Some misguided users even think that Norton keeps them safe from Spyware, Trojans, worms and dialers. Heck, it doesn't even get all the standard viruses.
Oh well, bad software like that keeps a lot of techs like me in Beer and Pizza. Bad software just makes the good stuff look all that much better.
Whenever I remove Norton from a customer's PC and install AVG 7.5 FREE, I get thanked profusely.
So I guess I should be saying, "Long live bad software!". Ya reckon?
y'all have a great day now, y'hear?

Hello,
I agree with you Rons and Shadow. I want to share an experience with all in regards to Nortons problems. A customer had purchased a brand new pc and it came loaded with Norton and having already been educated about all the trialware that new pc's come with they brought it to me still in the box straight from the UPS man. First thing after booting the new machine, I removed Norton. After the reboot it Blue Screens. I don't remember the error exactly but it referenced a Norton file/driver. It is worse than most malware.

See, there IS intelligent life in Texas. (just joking!)
Anyone who removes Norton is on my "A" list. Anything you want or need, just holler!
Some people think I'm just joshing when I say
"I'd rather have a Virus than Norton....I can easily delete the virus".
I guess you'd have to be a tech to appreciate the humor in that statement.
I set up a new PC recently that had both Norton and McAfee on it.
Now there's a Pair to draw to.
And the beat goes on.........
