Hi - I am always fumbling about looking for a term to describe those that are above Newbies in skills but waaay less than Techies or Geeks in their abilities. Any suggestions? Since I am teaching private lessons, I am finding that I need a word or phrase to describe this status more and more....

Hi! First, let me thank you for helping those of us who ARE a bit more than someone who just sat down in front of a PC for the first time, and say, a computer GENIUS like our beloved leader, Chris Pirillo---we need all the help and understanding that we can get! Wink As for the nickname---how about MINI-BYTES? Hey, I don't care WHAT you call me, just as long as I know that you're all here in "Gnomie Land" where I'm safe from the trojans, worms and viruses, (or is the plural virii?). If you don't like "MINI-BYTES", how about "NEWBIE-PLUS" or "NEWBIE-PRO"? Good luck with your search---I hope you find one you like---I don't mind being called a "newbie", because I always feel like I should learn something new every day---on days that I just vegetate, I feel crappy Sad Hope I was of some help, cobalt! For pure entertainment value, just call them all by name.......................................but not their own name.
Jim's going to go nuts trying to figure out why you call him "Bob". Wink

I loved playing with pseudo when I was a kid!
Couldn't wait for the Sunday comics to come out so I could flatten it out and press it to the paper so I could make a copy of it....

Oh... those were the days....

Oops sorry, that was Silly Putty.

I second Spookie's idea of NEWBIE-PRO.

Or, perhaps, PRO-NEWBIE??? CON-NEWBIE?

Bob - guy floating out on the ocean?
Matt - guy laying in front of a door?
Misty - gal hovering along the coast?
Brad - guy who's hammered?
John - guy, oh nevermind - you get the idea...

ouch, looks like the world of the betweener is looked on with as much if not more disdain than a newbie! Whyso? Are those between so much more annoying because they "almost" have the terminology and the right learning curve?

Aaaak, I am still not getting quite the right ring to a name to use. For it to be most effective, I'd like to use it without having to go into too much detail... But, please keep 'em coming, this is great! Now I'm getting some kind of morph image in my mind - no- wait, I'm thinkin' the caterpiller>pupae>butterfly deal. Got to have a term and gotta start somewhere. Clubie? I am liking that one - cluebie or clubee, hmmmm.....
