Ladies/Gents,
i am just starting to get into the RSS stuff & trying to fully understand the various versions, software that is required, can I sync between a desktop version and a Pocket PC version....etc...etc..
1) Is there any good sites where I can understand what RSS??
2) What is the recommended reader for both the PC & the PocketPC?
3) Is there a plugin for Outlook 2003 that does RSS?
4) Any must have RSS Feeds?

I am brand new to RSS useage. I use Newsletter Reader to read four newsletters with no problem however, I can only get the newsletter that they create unless I get the publisher of other newsletters to add their publications to them. Is this common?
I am just learning XP PRO service pack2, as my new OS. I am struggling. I was using Win 98se and I get lost in the process changes. Ex: Trying to update a firewall requires shutting down a service in order to do a clean install of the latest update. I am the sole user of the computer and have admtr rights.
I am trying to use Feed Reader and can not determine how to add newsletters in order to be able to read them. Can anyone help Me? I can not find any directions on how to use the program, Can you tell me where it is located? I am, looking for a FREE RSS reader, can you recommend a reader to read Lockergnome's newsletter without a lot of hassle. I am looking for one that will automatically notify me when new letters are available to be read.
I use Win XP-PRO Sp2, ZoneAlarm Pro, SpyBlaster. Spybot S&D. I know so little about RSS that any help will be of use. Thanks.

No I did not receive any replies.
I am looking for a reliable RSS reader (FREE, if possible). Any recommendations would be appreciated. I have experience using only the Newsletter reader from Worldstart.com and I can not get Lockergnome feeds through it.
Anybody want to help an old lady with a little advice? I use XP Pro, ZoneAlarm Pro,Spyblaster, SpyBot Search & Destroy, AVG7 free and NETXL for Broadband supplied by my ISP. It is a net accelerator, spy blocker, and pop/under prevention. I connect by ADSL.
Only advice so far was stick to e-mail. Although I am self-taught through reading books and by trial & error, i am not too dumb to learn. If you have the patience for my questions. Thanks, to any brave souls who feel helpful.
I live in a rural area and my computer is my only contact with the world. I am in a wheelchair and on oxygen 24/7. The computer has been a real godsend since i was widowed almost four years ago. Forums have proven to be one of my best sources of information. Good people are found on those forums.
Happy computing!

I use firefox for my browser and use an extention called sage. Doesn't have alot of advanced features but it does pull and display what I want to see just fine.

My favorite RSS tool is Bloglines. It's works just like webmail, allowing you to read your feeds anywhere you want. It's free.

Sorry to be so dim here, but I am newer than a newbie. I keep seeing this section and scratch my head. What is "RSS", what is it used for? Also, what is the "OS X" section about? :hmm:

Yes Bloglines and Google reader are both OK. Even though I do blog research and scan at least 50 blogs daily for my own blog I still prefer Yahoo as a blog reader. I just like it the best not sure why.

1) XML.com has a fairly good description and explaination:
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2002/12/18/dive-into-xml.html
2) I use firefox and add those funky expandable bookmarks, but there are LOADS of good readers. I'd also recommend blog-lines and google reader as previously mentioned.
3) A quick google search brought up a few things:
intravnews - Looks promising, apparently free after registration for personal use.
http://www.kingtiny.net/weblog/RSStoOutlook.html - This looks like a solid application made specifically for RSStoOutlook exchanges.
4) If your a geek like me; any slashdot and digg rss feeds, and lots of space and tech news from various reputable news websites  |

rss4medics.com gives an easy non-technical, user friendly, explanation the benefits of RSS, both as a tool for keeping up to date with information and also for publishing. It is written specifically for doctors and those in the health sector, but the benefits listed could be applied to any industry sector. It includes a directory of medical rss feeds.

I have tried many listed above and have settled on my favorite so far as being SharpReader! Here's the link: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/sharpreader.html and it's FREE!!! It has lots of great RSS features, and for the casual user to the power user it fills many if not all the needs one might have including browsing within the reader! I highly recommend it, and by the way, did it mention its FREE????
