I hope someone can help me!

I use Mailwasher Pro to filter my spam. For the past two days I keep getting a "Socket Error # 10038" when it tries to check my mail.

I don't have any problem downloading it to Outlook Express, so I'm thinking it's something to do with MWP. I don't normally use OE but I'm using it now to check for spam. I normally bring all my mail from my ISP account to my Yahoo mail. Even that's not working correctly. It will only bring over one account instead of 3.

I use Windows XP home.

I did post in MW's forum last night but have had no response.

Thanks in advance Very Happy

I seem to have found the problem.

On Tuesday I installed Spyware Dr. 6 with a free account for one year. That seems to be when the problem started as MWP didn't work for Wed. and Thurs. I thought spyware dr. would be a good program but seems it's more trouble than it's worth. Last night I uninstalled this program and this morning MWP is working just fine!

Also in a maybe unrelated problem for the same two days around ten pm I would lose my internet connection. I called my ISP Tues. night and he thought the modem was shot. When I put the computer on Thurs. morning my connection was working fine. Then last night, same thing, no connection after 10. We'll see tonight whether spwd had anything to do with that as well. If not the only thing I can think of is that it over heats and shuts itself down. I have cable internet so not sure about that since it's on all the time? Any thoughts on this?

Well at least my MWP is working again, YEAH!!!!!

Just to update. My internet connection was fine last night so obviously there is nothing wrong with the modem and it must have had something to do with the "new and improved" Spyware Dr. I'll never install that again!

I have heard that a LOT of those "spy" programs are nothing more than WALWARE or TROJANS at best - the old adage with a new twist comes to mind - let the "downloader" beware...

Only go with known "good" ones & you'll be OK - a lot of people ( not necessarily meaning YOU) have a tendency to download & install everything that comes down the pike & wonder why they get bit. A little bit of caution & research goes a long way.

Glad you found the problem & have found a very important troubleshooting measure - what was the LAST thing you did before the problem occurred? - even a seemingly harmless thing as this can be the problem. Very Happy Cool
