| I have a cable connection.
Without linksys router(WRT54G), internet speed is fine. But, if I use linksys router with wire, it makes connection speed very slow.
Do I need to change setup for the router?
Thanks.

Yes.
I have the same model router since June 2004 and I have no slowdowns wired or wireless.
First if your computer is the only thing on the router and you are sure it is g, then change from mixed mode to g mode only. Found under the wireless tab.
I hope you changed the default SSID and set a password, otherwise some others may be "sharing" your wifi connection and slowing you down. (under the Administration tab, you can enter a password. You need to enter it twice and be sure to write it down!)
If you don't operate anything wirelessly, turn off wireless.
Also open the tab marked Administration and make sure that you select disable under Remote Management. (That means that someone getting into your router wirelessly can not change any settings and lock you out of your own router).
