It's possible to use tweak tools edit and place a legal notice ( i.e. any) message on to Windows' opening page, at boot.
But all the ones I've tried come with an " OK" button that has to be clicked before Windows will open, which is a nuisance. So I end up removing it
Is there a way to put the message up without needing to click "OK".. |

Not sure of the answer to your question, unless it is an option within one of the various 'tweak' suites you mention?
On the other hand, surely the need to click to progress is self-explanatory, as anyone doing so is confirming that they HAVE seen the 'legal notice', otherwise they could deny all knowledge? |

| I guess what I want is something written to do the "putting a message on the opening screen" bit, but without the need for it to be clicked. i.e. a real Tweak.. |

Hello,
Perhaps you could create a bitmap with the text you wanted to display on it, then set the [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper] key to point to that so it is displayed after the graphics subsystem initializes to the point where you login to the computer?

I have a pretty good log-on screen changer - and I could easily edit a bitmap to do it.
But that sort of spoils the idea.
I just thought it'd be cool to use software to put a message on the screen. |

Hello,
You can try the instructions outlined in Microsoft Knowledgebase Article 101063, "How to Enable a Warning Message During Windows Logon Welcome." I think, though, you are probably going to end up with having to perform some sort of action to click through a dialog, though, the reason being that to do so without requiring acceptance weakens the legality of the notice.
Although the article above specifically refers to Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, it should work with Windows XP as well.

Thanks, I like that idea.
I have Win 7 but a search in regedit for "winlogon" should do the trick. |
