Anyone got an old laptop that is either cheep or free that the want to get rid of?
My wife is in the Air Force and about to go over seas for a few months and I would like to have something for her to take of her own, so that she can keep in contact with our kids. The government won't allow her to put a web cam on their equip.
If anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter and please contact me. Sorry, I don‘t have a lot of money, but I can pay a little. |

Don't jump down my neck, I haven't posted any links here.
I just wnat to say that under certain conditions, like being short of cash, wanting to signup with Blockbuster, and know 18 who also do, then "that free laptop site" may be a good idea.
It's not a scam, but it can take awhile...
Good luck however you go. |

Again, if you live in the USA, there are a few referral based sites that are legit, provided you bring them a few people who would be willing to try an online service like Blockbuster or AOL.
It can work, provided you'd be willing to wait a month or two, and know enough people who wanted to try those offers anyhow. (I've done it, and it works) |

Year and condition does not matter.
I will come to your front door (in CONUS) to pick it up.

You'd have better luck with the free laptop. |

I'm looking for an old laptop; anything that clocks about 100mhz would be great - 400mhz or above would be a miracle
Hard-drive size isn't really important, as I can always upgrade that later. RAM should be above 16 megs, CD-drive would be nice but not necessary (can always rip it open, make a cable converter and use a regular IDE cd-drive for OS install right?). Power adaptor a must have; would be great if it could hold a 30 or greater charge too.
I realise there's a few threads about this; this forum comes up pretty high on a google search for searches todo with laptop give-aways. I saw that a previous user managed to get a hold of an old laptop in this forum and was amazed at your commulative generousity - I was a little touched
I'm sorry for this being my first post, the forum itself looks brilliant though - I think I'll be staying around for some time
I'm a student, and don't have a lot of spare change. The laptop itself would be purely for educational uses: I'm looking to use it to record low-quality audio (mic or line in port will suffice), and also as a portable word processor and code editor. I also want to debug websites on it in a good texteditor, nothing WYSIWYG; I'm looking to install a low-end linux distro with a low-demand substitute gui for gnome or kde.
Also looking to use it to route some wifi traffic, and in long distance wifi experiments (on that note, PCMCIA slot or USB port is must have).
I'm based in Watford, England (not far from london), and am completely willing to pay delivery fees. |
