Please post NO MORE scan results here. That's NOT what this forum is for.
Then in the HJT forum, post only what you are asked to post as a result of what the HJT experts tell you. OK?

I know that our HJT Expert has his own set of programs that he will ask you to download and run and post the results where he can review them.

Whenever you download, QuickTime, RealPlayer, Java, Adobe Reader, and many other such programs, they will put their auto-updaters in your Startup folder.
You need to be aware of that, and keep those programs "DE-Selected" so they don't run all the time. That will save you a lot of system resources.

I even use a registry script to REMOVE those DE-Selected items from that 'Startup' list (in MSCONFIG), permanently.
It's just one more little area that I like to keep CLEAN.

As for those invisible "Services" that run in the background, there are several web sites where they are all listed, giving you recommendations as to which ones can safely be shut down.

My first list of services to shut down, was 52 items long. It nearly killed my PC! Laughing Laughing Laughing
I finally pared that list down to about a dozen, that just are never needed (by at least 90% of users).

I put those services into a batch file which can put them into either Manual or Disabled mode and I run that batch file on every new computer I work on. (Windows XP only)

It's always advisable to make a new Restore Point before making any changes to the registry, where all your system settings are stored.
Then if you mess something up, a quick 'System Restore' puts things back the way they were.

It's easy to 'error', but at least 'error' on the side of caution.

Good Luck,
The Doctor Cool
