so..I, once again, have a rather annoying computer problem that I'm hoping to solve with your help Laughing

we have a new PC, with XP Home Edition SP2 preinstalled, which we plan to use as a surveillance computer.
whenever it boots up, it comes up with an error message (at the point where it scans for all connected devices), claiming that no keyboard is connected and to press F1 to ignore the error message, or Esc to enter setup..(note the contradiction..if the keyboard really wouldn't be connected, I wouldn't be able to follow those instructions anyway Rolling Eyes )
so I press F1 to ignore the error message, and it boots perfectly normally. no big problem there..IF it weren't for the fact that the computer absolutely will not boot up without someone there to press F1, as it hangs on that screen until it's told what to do.
which is of course fatal if the computer is to be used for remote surveillance, and the surveillance program occasionally reboots the computer..

how on earth do I prevent the computer from coming up with this error message?

hoping for help :]

Look in the BIOS. Since this message pops up before windows has a chance to load and the only thing it is looking at is the BIOS at this point, logically that would be the place to search.

What zlim forgot to mention was the the entry in the BIOS to look for, is the "Stop on errors" line. There will be choices on what "errors" to ignore - yours would be the "keyboard" error. As for the reason for the error, are you using a USB keyboard? If so, unless you have "Native USB" checked on another page in setup, you will get this. (Mine [ECS board)], is listed on the "Features" page as "USB function for DOS".
