"The COOLSITES Newsletter - find the coolest links here. This fella named Mark Donaldson has been sending out his lists of cool sites since 2003. I'd never heard of him before last week. One day I was Googling myself to see who was posting links to my newsletter, and I found his website. I guess he's mentioned my newsletter at least 3 times. I like the COOLSITES website too, but I think it could use some reformatting to make it a bit easier to read. What I really like is the content there. Mark must really read a lot of stuff on the web and he takes the best links then tells you about them ."

Welcome to Clif Notes Newsletter
July 1, 2007
Thanks for reading my newsletter.
I'm sorry folks. This weekend I was so busy with family and friends that I had no time to work on the newsletter. The same thing could happen next weekend if I manage to get out and do some camping in the Michigan dunes. I'll be back soon. I have too much fun talking with all of you to stay away for long.
Please feel free to look at some of the older letters.

Safety Recall
From 'Clark Said' Newsletter 7/02/07
http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/2007/06/26/index.html#5
"Unsafe tires from China. If you drive a pickup, SUV or minivan and have replaced your tires at some point, you need to check your tires to see if they're unsafe. To save money, a company in China produced their tires without an important safety step. As a result, after a short period of time, the tires shred right off the car. The importer knew there was a safety problem but didn't alert the government. People have been hurt, so you need to be aware of the brands that were sold with this serious safety defect:
YKS Compass Telluride Westlake
China's economy is expanding rapidly and in a chaotic fashion, and this is not the only case of defective merchandise. We've heard of the unsafe toys and dog food, and now there are reports of antifreeze being put in toothpaste to extend its shelf life. (Never mind what it does to the consumer!) This is damaging the reputation of products from mainland China. "

I'm not a psychic, but I do make predictions
Since there is no real competition among our electric utilities there has been no real upgrading of our supply grid. Since the grid is old and barely able to carry the peak demands I predict that there will be a major outage this week as the hot weather moves across the country. BTW I had a power failure while using DOS to turn back my registry and it didn't kill my system.
TV wrestling will start testing for steroids when pigs fly. However the DEA, FBI and/or Congress will see it as a chance for media coverage and justification of their existence.
Paris Hilton will become pregnant because if Nicole has one she wants one too.
This has been a quiet year for Atlantic hurricanes so far and will continue to be one.
Mark.
