Introducing Bespin
Last week
Mozilla Labs unveiled the new
Bespin project,
an experiment towards developing an "extensible framework for open web development". Bespin is a web-based code editor built using open web technologies.
"We're particularly excited by the prospect of empowering Web developers to hack on the editor itself and make it their own."
This release is Bespin 0.1 and is an initial prototype framework that includes support for basic editing features, such as syntax highlighting,
large file sizes, undo/redo, in-browser preview, and project import/export.
There's an
introductory video available, and the
source code has been released under the MPL.
The
project announcement has lots more information, including a bunch of ways you can get involved with the project.
