I do agree with you tbernstein but what about us .1%ers that like to play.. :D
We want speed coupled with reliability...Besides your apps that you like to run will load so much faster on that 9 gig CPU and be able not to open correctly so fast that you will waste no time cursing out Microsoft for not creating a version compatible office software.. |
To be honest, I've never understood what it was that gamers needed all that power for.
But aren't there machines for that sort of thing anyway. Xboxes and stuff.

Absolutely the Xbox and Playstation is going to be better at the games they only do one thing, and that is play games. True Pc's have a multitude of roles for the most part. You know it is kind of like the difference between dial up and high speed internet, it doesn't look that great till you have all that power.... The problem with the council machines(Xbox) is that you really can't play with it to keep upgrading it, sure there are tons of hacks but where is the keyboard.
I am not a hardcore gamer myself I am just a crazy computer guy that likes fast but can only afford so so...
Why do we really need to wait for a computer to boot up, we don't wait for the TV to boot before it shows an image. We don't turn the key on and wait to start our cars for 1 minute before the computer in your cars boots up (ok diesel owners you know who you are and with all that smoke you need to wait longer and maybe even display a flag or something so the rest of us can roll up our windows or get far from your stinky vehicles)
I am not really is such a rush or anything it just maybe the caffeine |

| This is really the point for me. I'd happily trade my 1mb internet DSL and reasonable P4 speed for a reliable machine and software combination that never left me twiddling my thumbs or pulling my hair because it decided not to behave. |
