We all get to those situations where there is no access to a coffee machine and all we can lay our grubby mitts on is crappy powdered stuff.
The trouble with instant is that to make the level of caffiene in there half worth it, you have to load the mug almost to the point that you are drinking molasses (but not as sweet).
Any suggestions of a highly caffienated instant coffee that I can get in the UK? Aparently we have laws over here about caffiene that don't apply in the states (would you believe that pure caffiene is classified in the same catagory of drug as Heroin!)
Any feedback would be appreciated

| Can you get the coffee that are in tea bags? We have those here. You put the tea bag (well coffee bag in this instance) and voila! Instant coffee with the cafiene. It tastes really good too. |

Ooo sounds good, will look into that one.
Going back to the warm coke. Doesn't it go flat? and do you put in in the microwave, kettle or just leave it on the radiator? |

LOL
I feel that a good cup of java is worth it to brew myself and carry in a thermos, but not if I'll be carrying it around all day.
Warm Coke... LMAO |

I drink a granulated coffee (er, looks a little like dehydrated mouse droppings!) that seems to have a decent kick to it if you use around 4 spoons to a cup of hot water. It's much safer for me to drink that than attempt to make my own "real" coffee because I'm so incredibly bad at making the stuff! It's always slightly lumpy (and not in a good way).
Fortunately, my son is well trained and realises his mother is a much nicer person with caffiene added so he makes me a pot of coffee every morning before he goes to school! |

what's wrong with real coffee and a plunger? - takes around the same length of time to brew
failing that - i occasionally drink a product called Jarrah Swiss Chocolately Coffee - which is ok - i can't drink any other instant stuff - makes me want to VOMIT!
PS - Meryl - did i get the apostrophes in the right places??? |

Instant coffee is like virtual sex. There is just NO substitute for the real thing.

gotta agree about the instant coffee...yuck
what about keeping a supply of chocolate-covered java beans in your desk? I have a small jar for those coffee emergencies at work when you just can't spare the time to go to the coffee machine and they work like a charm...just don't eat more than 1 or 2. I speak from exerience
lol! |

Unfortunately we can't get Jolt here in the UK (believe me, I've looked for it), but those chocolate-coated coffee beans are available — Caffe Nero, for one, sells them...
(Or there's always Pro-Plus tablets — I usually take four at a time, if I need them...) |

Uhm ... maybe on one of those late nights when I ate too many of those chocolate covered java beans. JavaJitterz is right. Be very careful with them. They may produce unexpected side effects.

| I keep a little bag of chocolate coated coffee beans in my desk drawer too, just for emergencies like late-breaking news stories. I can get my caffiene fix and work at the same time. |

I'd like to give a word of warning re. energy drinks (Red Bull and the like)._ If you must use them, except in the direst emergency have only one at a time; I for one find that two give me a lot of alertness, but with sharp and jagged edges (rather like I imagine ODing on those chocolate-coated coffee beans is like).
Incidentally, the small print of energy drinks always says "not suitable for diabetics", which according to the nutritional advice I've been given means that they're not suitable for anyone else either. |
