Post subject: Inspiron 8600 ATI 9600

I have an inspiron 8600 with an ATI Radeon 9600 pro graphics card installed. I know that video for a TV will come out of the SVideo connector. What I would like to know, and can't find out anywhere, is if I set up the TV section properly in the ATI applet, I can get proper YPbPr signals out of the VGA connector on the back, and connect to the HDTV with a simple VGA to component wire adapter.
Or, if a YPbPr signal is not available at all from this card/computer.

Thanks

Hello,

I would think that you need to use an adapter like this one to convert the VGA signal to YPbPr component out.

Thanks, but there is no DVI connector on the back of the laptop. This particular version of the ATI 9600 is special for Dell laptops. Since the 8600 is an older Dell model, there is not much available from Dell or ATI about it.

I would buy a cable if someone could confirm that a YPbPr signal is available somewhere either on the VGA or the SVideo connector.
