I think you're doing it. The internet is the best thing for insomnia. At least it gives you something to do.

I have insomnia as well, I try to pop a Tylenol PM about 9:00 by 11:00 I've punched out. Of course then I need a strong dose of coffee to wake up. It's a vicious circle.
I do know that preoccuping your mind will not work...you need to let the mind rest. as hard as it is to think about nothing thats what you have to do. |

Dunno if I have insomnia as such, but it takes two hours to get to sleep; I feel most awake at night, so put off going to bed later and later, so wake up tired...
As says Meka, a vicious circle.

I wonder if any kind of meditational education would be infinitely better than any medical uptake? Yes, it is true that learning meditation techniques donot provide instant results as does medicational alternatives but ... but I am only repeating Doctor WildBlueMekaThingy post.
Give me 5 minutes and a poll to lean on and I am near REM on demand! |

| The best thing to induce sleep is massage by a spouse: of course, one will end up sound asleep-- while the other poor one wide awake & turned on.... |

LOL guys:
In high school meditation was part of a psychology class I took. Basically once a week we got a good nap, LOL. It really worked for me: lights out, some funky twany music (no lyrics to think about) and then the soothing sound of the instructor guiding us into relaxing our bodies from scalp to toenails. I was usually knocked out by the time I had relaxed to my finger tips.
But that was back in the day when the most important thing I had to think about was what I was going to do on the weekend.
Last night I found out I was out of Tylenol PM and I knew it was going to be another one of those nights so I took a Benadryl, the side effects we drowsiness or hyper-activity. LOL Ha ha ha, fortunately it was drowsiness.
I am a night person too, and I feel robbed of something having to earn my peanuts in the waking hours of normal people...I am the most creative and energetic at night. Having to drug myself to sleep when my body and mind don't want to doesn't seem fair to me. |

Recently I have completed some of the Prozac treatment (by M.D.) for nightmares--now I'm down with Elavil.
Seriously, try some herbal tea; Celestial Seasonings Chamomile or Sleepytime works with a little honey.
