Today, you all have done it once again. With your amazing efforts, Firefox has reached 400 million downloads and demonstrated that not even the world's most powerful companies can keep people from a better, safer, and faster Web experience. You all, the grass roots and the heart of the Firefox movement, have helped hundreds of millions of people find that better, safer, and faster Web.

We Firefox users must thank all those who give their time and intellect to make this a successful and safe browser.

It took me awhile (a good while) to get the hang of Firefox. I can't tell you how many times I threw up my hands in frustration and uninstalled it in the early days. But now, I can't imagine not having it as my browser.

I was so sick and tired of IE and all its security HOLES, that when the first beta of Firefox came along I jumped on it like a goose on a June-bug. Laughing Laughing

When the full (not beta) version of FF was released, I celebrated by totally removing the IE icon from my desktop and QL toolbar.

The IE Tab add-on to FF has been a roaring success. I install FF and IE Tab for all my customers and for the most part, they all love it.

Some folks just don't like change. They'll rail against anything that's different than what they're used to.

Viva la difference!

Halooooooo!

Today I found a glitch in my computer, related to firefox.

Every time I clicked a shortcut to a LG forum site, I got this:

Error: image could not be loaded. Image is not available from server

Image URL: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g90/DrWho1943/FFError.jpg

It only manifests itself after the last FF update.

The fix was fairly simple: Here it is:........

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Windows_error_opening_Internet_shortcut_or_l...l_HTML_

It's all here in this link.

I performed the fix and everything was back to normal.
If you have the same problem, try this fix.

Cheers!

TheShadow, can you fix your link, please? Put code tags around it so it doesn't get truncated.
As it stands, I get a "no page match" with the truncated link.
I found it
Code:

Forget the freaking link.....I can't get it to work now.

Here's the pertinent text;

(In Windows XP and Windows 2000)

1. Open Windows Explorer (or My Computer).
2. Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types
3. Select Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol"
4. Click "Advanced". In the "Edit File Type" window, select "open" and click "Edit"
5. Uncheck "Use DDE" (the dialog should then hide the lower part).
6. Click OK for that dialog and the next one (afterwards, the "Use DDE" box is still checked but the "DDE Message" box will be cleared, as shown here)
7. Repeat for Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" (and any other protocols you want to fix)
8. Repeat for Extension: "(NONE)" File Type: "Firefox URL"
9. Repeat for Extension: "HTM" (or "HTML") File Type: "Firefox Document"

Cheers!

FF 2.0.0.8 is ready for download.

Set your FF updates to Automatic and you'll never be out of date with FF again. It can also update many plug-ins.

Firefox 2.0.0.9 is now available for download. If you have Firefox already installed, just follow TheShadow's instructions in the above post, or do it manually via the Help menu.

If you don't already have the best free web browser in the world installed, just go to Get Firefox to download the latest version.

Also, don't forget to check out all of the great add-ons at: Firefox Add-ons.

I like to do my upgrading manually. Updates to FF are mentioned on a lot of the forums I go to, so I don't miss them. The reason I do it manually is only for "just in case". I like to make a backup in MozBackup first just in case something does goes wrong. I can go back to the old version, investigate what the problem might be and hopefully figure out a fix before trying it again.

Granted, there aren't many things that go wrong in FF. But I've done some tweaking to my Classic Theme toolbar that I don't think I can remember how I did it, so I could repeat it again if it got messed up. lol!

Anyway, different strokes for different folks. But either way, FF rocks!
