I just bought a new Laptop, I want to make sure the settings are correct in the different zones, general, privacy and all the rest that are listed. I also would like to know about the Bios password, never heard about it. I have been running McAffee firewall, their new version has a lockdown function, nothing in or out so they say. Having a wireless version, even though I am connected by cable all the time, I keep getting signals , I can be connected, have not done it, if I leave the room I put the pc on lockdown or just disconnect from cable. Can someone still get in ?

Personally the only thing I change in IE is under the privacy tab. I override automatically handle cookies. Accept first party cookies, reject all third party cookies and allow session cookies.

The BIOS password when set will prompt you for a password to enter the BIOS and or Boot up the PC. It is a separate password from and has nothing to do with the windows password. If you loose your laptop no one can boot it up or get into the BIOS settings without this password when set. If you do go into the BIOS and set one up make sure you don't make a typo, if you forget it or mistype it you will have a very hard time getting back in to reset it on a laptop.
