I have a friend who is having trouble with her Mac, running OS 9.1. The problem is this: she has a screen full of random (apparently empty) files on her desktop. They appear to have the .xul extension. Periodically, the files shift and change names (still random sets of letters and numbers). She also has apparently lost her personal data files - documents, pictures, etc. Is there a known cause for this problem, and/or a fix. DIFFICULTY: I am a rather savvy Windows guy, but have absolutely no Mac skillset.

I don't run a MAC either but I did search to see what kind of files these were.
XUL XML User Interface Language (Mozilla)
so I'm guessing that her browser is in the Mozilla family.
