| Hi, I would say hi and all that but I'm busy - ah hell, hey all, im new to Lockergnome - and I'll basically get straight to the story then
Well, I play Halo a lot, and one day recently I went to play and I was looking through all the servers and found one I felt like joining (as you do in any game). It looked all normal (well sounded anyway - you could hear the guy say "Team Slayer" to indicate what type of multiplayer game it was) but the screen stayed black. Then, an icon with a red X in the middle of it appeared. I'm only guessing this icon meant something bad because I've seen it before and the server crashes shortly after, or you experience hooooooooooooorible lag <_< , so I thought nothing of it other than 'Oh, it must b a rubbish host'. So I tried to join a server that I know was fast (it was a dedicated server, and a good one at that) and the same thing happened. I came to realise it wasn't just the server or the host. So I tried re-installing Halo and it said it re-installed successfully and it was still going on. So I decided to uninstall Halo altogether and install it again from the CD. When I try to install it, though, it says that a LOT of the files are either already in use or the hard disk is full. I know they arent in use because before the installation, the Halo folder wasnt even there, nevermind individual files, and the hard disk as 17GB or so left on it. Please please please please please can you get back to me with a possible solution as fast as possbile? Im going away for 2 weeks on Saturday and I won't be able to sort it out from there so I'm hoping to get this solved by tomorrow

| Just a thought. Did you have the Halo patch version 1.07 installed before you had the problems?

Erm.....I forgot  but its the first few on the installation then a few vital ones later on that u cant ignore so you just have to cancel it.
GameSpy Arcade was definately one, but i cant remember any others, but I know they are the first few files (well more than a few really ) |

First thing to try would be to make sure that Gamespy was completely uninstalled. Second would be to delete all files in the temp folder.
I might also be worth disabling your anti-virus software while doing the install and closing all unnecessary tasksas well. |

1) I'm 90% sure it was completely uninstalled, its not in the startbar menu for a start
2) If by temp folder you mean the halo folder thats still in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games, I did, and i even tried installing it into a new one that never existed before and the same thing was happening.
3) I always close unecessary tasks, but I didnt think of diabling my anti-virus, thats about the only thing i havnt tried so I'll try it again with Norton disabled and I'll post the results here. |

Still don'y work it says the same thing(s) as normal, which is at the start of it, this message comes up twice:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application"
Then 3 files won't install, they are
GSArcade.exe
msxmlenu.msi
sounds.map (this one is un-ignorable so I have to cancel the installation at 85% which is where sounds.map won't install)
This is the message that comes up when the files won't install:
"Halo Setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\ ___________ .Make sure your hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use."
(___________ is the part where it says what file) |

When a said the temp folder I meant the windows temp folder.
For windows 98 it's c:\windows\temp.
For Windows 2000/XP is c:\documents and settings\(profile name)\local settings\temp. |
