I also had the same installiton problem>2nd disk stop at 23%...I went to EA site and they have the SAME manual instruction as ZEUS has..what this does is Force the system into accepting the game..But you must repeat 'MUST' follow each step to the" T " ie: make shur the game is totally deleated 1st.Do a search for it " you'll be suprised how many places it goes..it 1st goes into a temp folder then it's downloaded, ie: go 2 my computer, open>Doc.&settings, open>your 'name',open>my Doc.,open, there you will see another copy of the game>deleate this one too. when you are dong a Manual install, make shur that you make a folder for each disk like this Disk1,Disk2,Disk3,Disk4 no space in between the word disk and the #..make shur the /all disk are removed before going into disk1 to open it and click the EXE...by doing this method you are forcing your system in taking the game,..but like I said b4 you must follow these instruction " 2 the T " and this will work...PS ty ZEUS Smile

Try changing the transfer mode of the DVD drive to PIO only mode.

Instructions for 2000/XP:

To change the transfer mode right click My Computer > click properties > click hardware > click device manager > click the + sign to expand the tree > click on IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS, double click primary IDE controller > click advanced settings change the transfer mode on device 1 to PIO only.
If it's greyed out then your CD/DVD drive isn't on the primary IDE so exit that and try device 0 on the secondary IDE controller.

It's also worth trying a different DVD drive or updating the DVD drives firmware.

I'll try to but it's not easy explaining on a forum or any electronic medium for that matter.

Go back into device manager > click the + sign to expand the tree on DVD/CD-ROM drives > double click your DVD drive and it should give you the location. See picture 1.

Picture 1:

The Location for the device will either be 0 or 1.

Close that window > double click Primary IDE Channel > change the transfer mode of the corresponding device.

Location 0 = device 0 and location 1 = device 1. See picture 2.

Picture 2:

If the corresponding device is greyed out check the Secondary IDE Channel.

Please make sure you have a DirectX9 compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest manufacturer provided driver."

Hi,

What are the specs of your PC?
If you don't know then please download and run SysSpec. Run the file > click on the system button > click edit > click copy to clipboard and then paste it with your reply.

Is there maybe another site I can try downloading the updates? Or some other update I can try?

Try the Dell support site. The driver probably won't be as up to date but it's worth a try.

Yeah, Dell didn't off any updates more current than what I already have.
This is so frustrating because I have had this game running fine on my computer in the past. Eventually though my hard drive died and when I got it replaced my computer was entirely wiped clean.. so I know that this computer CAN run the game, but I don't know what I had before that allowed it to install Confused

Well I was finally able to update the driver. But it still wont install. This little error box without any words in it just pops up when i put the disk in.
