O.K.
I was in wal-mart the other day and noticed that they had The sims2 Deluxe and seasons that had Vista on their OS requirements. So I bought them.
The Sims2 Deluxe installed in safe mode but crashes on splash screen and Seasons will not install as before.
I downloaded DirectX9 and installed it. no help
is there any way to REPLACE my DirectX10 with the 9 version??????

I have been in contact with EA and was very strong in my last contact.
I let them know that the problem lies within their games not my computer
and that I was VERY P.O.'d
We'll see what happens.
I also let them know that I would NOT recommend my friends or anybody else buy their games.

I am trying to reinstall the Sims 2 basically... and though I've probably installed the game around 3-4 times... unfortunately this time when I get to Disc 3 it tells me that some file (objects03.package) cannot be found or something. = retry/cancel.

I tried installing in Safe Mode, renamed the InstallShield folder to InstallShieldOld and am now trying to install it manually. (I also cleaned all the cds, especially Disc3 and it's pretty clean apart from some aparent light scratches and 3 tiny small pores.)

I thought to myself, well I can copy all the cd's to their disk folders... but ofcourse when I try copying and pasting the files from Disc3 to it's disc folder, it says that error which means that the cd is corruped/scratched.

So I got the files from my friend, for Disc3 and it's all set.

I go to the Disc1 folder, and hit AutoRun. It starts downloading... but it never tells me to change cds... It just says Download Complete when it gets to 100% and it asks me if I want to launch it, etc.

I do but then it says something about, "Sims 2 encountered an error.. crash.. must close."

Obviously, I mean it only downloaded Disc1 probably. I uninstalled it just now and it had a total of 646 or so mb.

What do I do so it downloads properly?

I really hope you can help me out, thankyou!!
Hi,

Run CCleaner to clean up your temp files/ Windows registry and then try installing the game again.

There is no way to replace DirectX 10 with version 9, version 10 is supposed to be backwards compatible anyway.

Hi,

Run CCleaner to clean up your temp files/ Windows registry and then try installing the game again.

Hey Zeus, thank you for finally responding to me lol.
I downloaded CCleaner and cleaned up alot of things, temp files, registry and much more.
I then tried to download it using my cd's but unfortunetaly it comes up with an error saying that it can't download a specific file.
I also tried downloading SIMS2 with the manual download you said.
I've done everything you said JUST AS YOU SAID. There are no mistakes at all. Disk Images in C hard drive. With four folders Disk1, Disc2, Disc3 and Disc4.

I will try to delete them all tomorrow and do it over again.
But do you have any more suggestions? When I tried to manually download it, it completed but again it didn't download the rest of the cds. It asks me if I want to launch it and I do but it comes to the intro were it says EA GAMES Challenge Everything, then it crashes.
Basically it just says it has to close down.

Please help me!

Hello bimpe and welcome to Lockergnome!

Looking at your specs i've noticed that you have an CD-ROM the Sims 2 Deluxe edition is a DVD and there incompatible with a CD-ROM. You'll need to get a DVD drive to be able to read the disk.

You can get internal and external DVD drives from most computer shops or office shops. Internal drives are easy to fit but if you're unsure get a qualified person to fit it. External drives are even easier, you just plug it in to a USB port and away you go.

Hello everyone.

Here's my problem. I bought The Sims 2 in december 2006 (the CD pack). I had another computer back then and the game worked without a problem.

I got a new computer now and when I'm trying to install it I get the error described at the begining of this thread (that it can't install some voice package).

I've tried copying the files to my C: drive like Zeus recommended but here's the problem now... There's a zip file in Disc1 that gives me an error when trying to copy it... "data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

Help anyone??

THANKS!

Hello Acid_Burn and welcome to Lockergnome!

A CRC error usually occurs when the drive has problems reading the disk. Cleaning the disk should usually solve the problem.
