I am trying to fix a neighbors 2 year old HP a510n. I had a problem a few months ago and she pressed the restore . Well I had to reinstall a few things then. Now it started to do the same things it was doing before she restored it.. I tried to fix it yesterday at her house.. I thought I had it , I reinstalled Xp and downloaded all updates.. That took a few hours!!! It seemed to be working when I left . I got a call this morning and it is freezing on the Admin account, it will not do any thing under that. It seemed to run OK under the user , but it had a few quirks in the e-mail program.. So now I have it here figuring I will format the C: drive and reinstall XP and up dates again... Do you think I should do any thing with the H: drive HPs hidden partition? I think some of the HP software is causing some of the problems... Some thing is taking up CPU cycles.. I can boot in safe-mode and Admin account is some what use able.. I just can not figure what is causing the freezing... Any suggestions?
Thanks :
Larry
