Hi !
I need to install Windows 98 on my friend's old machine, so i do everything all the way to Step 3 when the files of the OS are copied on the HDD. However, on 59% of the copiying a problem occurs. A message board appears telling me that I have interrupted the copying and I cannot recall correctly, but there was also about some file " Setup(.CAB) " And to prevent questions - I did not touch ANYTHING while the copiyng process was happening. I know my sh*t, but this is the first time I encounter with such problem. Some other friend of mine offered trying with another CD with Win98.Please help! I'm desperate.

Pete

Is it a problem with the CD drive reading the windows 98 disc ? I've had that a few times with old machines. One time I got round it by temporarily fitting a brand new CD drive to the offending computer, then putting the old one back in once finished.

I suppose not. I've checked everything because the old PC had some hardware problems that I had to tace care of. One of the steps was a new HDD and installing Win 98 as an OS because of the configuration's characteristics. I have tought it over and over and I think(and hope) that I just have to use another CD disk with the Win98 OS on it. Yet still, thank you for the suggestion. Smile
