I am another one that seems to have the google search virus.

What happens is when I search sometimes it goes to an advert or some other dodgy looking search site. I have tried to get rid of the virus with my antivirus software but to no avail.

Please help me!!

Welcome to Lockergnome.

Do you know what the following program is used for?
C:\Program Files\Trusteer\Rapport\bin\RapportMgmtService.exe

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{03155F6E-1B0E-43DC-B0A6-58503DF893DD}: NameServer = 85.255.112.21,85.255.112.89

O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.21,85.255.112.89
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{03155F6E-1B0E-43DC-B0A6-58503DF893DD}: NameServer = 85.255.112.21,85.255.112.89
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.112.21,85.255.112.89
O23 - Service: Marvell Yukon Service (yksvc) - Unknown owner - RUNDLL32.EXE (file missing)

Download Malwarebytes ' Anti-Malware at http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe or http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform Full Scan, then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart (see Extra Note below).
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy & paste the entire report into your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

I have reinstalled my OS this morning and it seems to have got rid of the problem.

Thanks for the help anyway. Smile
