[Message thread moved to HijackThis Logs section by moderator. AG]
Ok, now I'm new here on the site as you guys can see, but I am also completely desperate.
For some reason I seem to have acquired a nasty infection, AVG catches like 20+ everyday, and yet I can't get rid of this nasty Google redirect virus and usually I dont mind about it much, but I have my little cousins using this computer as well and I dont want them to google something and have it come up as some weird other site that will download malware and sometimes even xxxx friender sites
This virus also deleted all of my system restore points and I cant see any of my drives or anything in Disk Management.
I've tried my best in googling this matter, and seeing how others were solved by Hijacking, I'm not sure exactly how that works either since I never really needed to and there were no clear instructions, and I could not understand the steps or anything on how to fix it.
So I am pretty much begging you guys to help me out, I will try my best and follow all of your instructions as long as you can go through each one and tell me exactly what to do, although I am computer literate I'm still sort of new to it but I'll do my best. These viruses have made my life sort of a hell because it's slowly making my computer have lots more errors and cant even shutdown without having problems and lots of things to end and very frustrating
So please help me out guys, any help is appreciated |

If you want to give it a whirl yourself try downloading SpyBot search and Destroy, make sure you do an update and then immunize the system and then a scan.
Another one I would download is Malwarebytes, this one isn't free but does allow you to run a full evaluation copy.
Malwarebytes

Make sure you bring up the system in safe mode before doing any scanning with AVG, Spybot or the like.
While in safe mode, check the add/remove program list to see if there's anything there you didn't install
Check to see if your hosts file has been hijacked. Still in safe mode, click "start \ run" then type:
notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
There's no extension on the file name. It should look something like this:
| Quote: |
# Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost |
Make sure there's nothing below the 127.0.0.1 line -- look carefully, some malware puts lots of blank line lines to try to fool you/ |

The one things I'd do is get AVAST A/V & run it ONLY (no other A/V's at the same time) at boot time. (this is in it's dropdown menu) This will totally bypass any of the crapola that may be blocking others from working. - It may say something about a license key. Just ignore it for now. If you intend to keep it, the license is free - renewed yearly.
Then I'd use the other stuff mentioned. Keep doing this back & forth until all reports clean. Also, make sure your system restore is shut off as this will just put stuff back - turn it back on when the system is clean. - if you have multi users, log on as each user & run. I had to do this to get all on a system I cleaned, seems redundant but I DID find more that way.
If this doesn't get it, look for a specific tool to remove the virus IF you know EXACTLY which one it is. Otherwise, look to hose the system & rebuild. Hope you have backups (as you should) because at this point you may as well consider ALL your data infested or corrupted. (because it probably is)
Hope this gets it for you. |

| If you are using the "free" version of Malwarebytes (http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button). you have to remember to manually update it everyday. |

Hi BigBoi7734,
First, restart pc so Spybot can remove megaupload -- then decide which
antivirus program you want to use. Avast! or update to avg 8.5.
I had a belief that it was a hard and fast rule: DO NOT run two antivirus
programs at the same time. I trust Grey Knight will have more good advice
when he gets to this too. I would try running Malwarebytes antimalware in
safe mode also. Spybot SD as well. Best wishes, zzron357 |

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:
O15 - Trusted Zone: http://*.trymedia.com (HKLM)
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: reavnh.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mlJYqRlm - mlJYqRlm.dll (file missing)
Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here. |

| I know this was posted a few months ago but I caught that virus recently and was able to get help from Microsoft that I was very impressed with. I called 1-800-642-7676 and pressed 0 to get to a person. They walked me through everything and were able to remove the infection at no charge. I also have Avira for my virus protection. I wanted to come post this so hopefully if someone else goes through this they can get help too. |
