Good Evening

Like many others I am suffering with this pest.

My situation is as follows, Whenever I search for a topic in Google I am redirected to another site sometimes of relevance to the topic other times not.

I have read much into this and realise that I am going to need help in getting rid.

I tried to install and run Spyhunter-Intaller & Malware Bytes. After installation neither programme would allow me to run them, instead a warning box would come up telling me its not possible to run. After reading about this it also could be the malware not allowing me to access the prgrammes.

I have currently downloaded ComboFix but am very apprehensive about using this with out guided help.

Please could somebody help me rid my system of this.

Thank you

Welcome to Lockergnome.

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

Download HijackThis at http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/HijackThis.exe Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double-click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose Do a system scan and save a logfile.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

I recently caught this too. I found a phone number for Microsoft and they walked me through fixing it. I am responding to as many of these as I can because I was soooo frustrated that I could not get to any anti virus sites and also did not have the operating disc to reset my computer. Microsoft walked me through everything and completely removed the redirect virus at no charge and everything is back to normal now. The number is 1-800-642-7676, press 0 to get to a real person and just describe to them what you have. The gentleman I worked with told me I was one of many unfortunately that he had helped with the virus that day...... Good luck! Smile
