Of course, membership is never guaranteed, but my friend has already created the "Political Geeks" forum and I've already made the first post.

Right now, he's working on fine tuning the forum and setting up themes, etc.

Once it's tweaked and tuned I'll post the address here, or send it via PM's.

Those who like that environment, should love it.
There will be very little moderation, unlike some other forums.

Closing the most widely used forum of all would typically be an MS trick.
(take something people know and love and destroy it)

And, why not close some of those other forums that don't get a post from one week to the next?

Killing off popular topics is the quickest way that I can think of to drive people away and into other forums.

A good friend has a web site with an area for Forums and he's said he'd be OK with creating a new forum for "Political Geeks".

Is anyone interested? Question Question Question Wink

Certainly. But only if all the folks I have considered objectionable also join up... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Aww gee, does that mean I can't sign up?? Wink

Cowpoke bob, I'm sure you'll be as welcome as rain, in Kansas.

I just need to get the Go-Ahead from my friend and I'll post the link here.

That might be me bern. Smile and I certainly would be interested in another such forum.

And a side note to mommabear: my wife will be cancer free for five years in January. That used to be considered a cure. So hang in there cures do happen and they are happening a LOT more often than ten years ago. All the best.

Thanks donrc, and everyone else who's expressed their concerns and good wishes. We can't be anything but pleased with the way it has gone up to now.

Today we were back at our Parkinson's support group. Now that he's feeling better and shall I dare say confident in his outcome, we can get back on track dealing with the Parkinson's. Which btw and all things considered, he's doing fine with that too.

The Book: It's an important and popular fact that things are not always what they seem. For instance, on the planet Earth, Man had always assumed that he was the most intelligent species occupying the planet, instead of the *third* most intelligent. The second most intelligent creatures were of course dolphins who, curiously enough, had long known of the impending destruction of the planet earth. They had made many attempts to alert mankind to the danger, but most of their communications were misinterpreted as amusing attempts to punch footballs or whistle for titbits. So they eventually decided they would leave earth by their own means. The last ever dolphin message was misinterpreted as a surprisingly sophisticated attempt to do a double backward somersault through a hoop while whistling the star-spangled banner, but in fact the message was this: So long and thanks for all the fish.

Well the new "Political Geeks" forum is created, up and running.
I've made the first post.

http://www.geek.im/e107_plugins/forum/forum.php

The server, however is on an "Embarq" DSL line and it's not the very best.
It may even be up and down, as Embarq replaces OLD and BAD copper wire with new and faster Fiber Optical cables, throughout our rural sub-division.

The only moderator is "The Geek", the owner and my best friend. His only restriction is that you don't try to HACK the board.
I would encourage everyone who uses this forum to maintain proper decorum.

Enjoy!
The Doctor Cool

PS: My own web page is hosted on this same Server.

But even Dexter is welcome at the new forum. Wink

If everyone will keep their same log-in name, that they use here, that will help us all know who is who, without lengthy introductions.

Cheers Mates!

So long, everybody. It has been fun arguing. I even enjoyed being disagreed with.

I am glad Mommabear that things seem to be going better.

One last political statement: Why get rid of PG and not humor? It seems to me they are similar in their non electronic orientation...

Can anybody suggest an alternative location to continue our vigorous disagreements?

Sure!

and just scroll down to "Political Geeks".

Bear with us while the forum is fully developed.
But it is UP and Running. Enjoy!

The site is still being tweaked and tuned for a more user-friendly environment.
Smileys were added almost immediately and PM's were added this week.

My favorite attribute so far is the total lack of ads, banners and stuff being inserted into every post.

There's no need for AdBlock+ or NOScript to keep your screen free of ads.
There just aren't any !!!

Neither will you be nagged for donations or subscription fees as you are, on so many sites today.

Tech Help forums will hopefully be open soon.

Stop by, sign up and say HI. You'll find that many of your friends are already there.

Y'all have a great day now, Y'hear?
