No request to be invited needed any longer:

Because Google has opened up their mail client to the public, so, I closed the request thread and you can go here for more info and to register yourself: GMail Account Registry

Thanks!

In the area of an update.......

GMail became a Pop server sometime in February.

You can now set your Outlook Express or other pop email program to receive your GMail.

I'm doing it with my O.E. and loving it.

I've downloaded a program from Google, that walks you through the process of setting up Outlook or Outlook Express on your computer, to download your GMail from Google.

I've been doing it manually, but having this program just makes it that much easier.

I'm suggesting that all my customers who are having troubles getting their email from Earthlink, Embarq, etc. create and start using an eMail address at GMail. (Google Mail)

Cheers!

Not too long ago, I spent almost half an hour on the phone with a technician at Embarq, trying to get one of my customers Embarq EMail working properly.

(Embarq took over all Earthlink accounts in this area and have more or less Demanded that all Earthlink EMail accounts be converted to Embarqmail. )

Well, at the end of my long time on the phone with the Embarq tech, he told me that we couldn't get any mail that day because their EMail server had been down for a week!

Fifteen minutes later I had my customer set up with a new EMail account at GMail. Setting it up on Outlook Express was a piece of cake.

If you have a GMail account, check your SPAM folder often. While testing a customers' PC here on the bench one night, I sent an email from my computer to the cust's PC via GMail. I was depressed when it never showed up in the "Inbox". I later found it in the SPAM folder. Go figure!

I get my GMail on my own computer via. Outlook Express, but I have to go to GMail on the net to check my SPAM folder. I do that now, about once a week. Ya just never know what you might find! Rolling Eyes Wink Laughing Laughing

Cheers Mates!
