| I cannot use the analog line in or mic inputs on my onboard sound using Windows XP. The Realtek HD Audio Manager shows level controls for the inputs but it does not have a slider on them to adjust them with. I have the latest driver installed and I know it is not a hardware problem because I dual boot this computer with Vista and it the audio input works fine in Vista, (go figure). I use the line in with a TV tuner card that I installed and I would enjoy using it alot more if it had sound.

| Go to control panel, Sounds and audio devices properties and under the Volume tab click advanced. In the next box that opens click options, properties. If the sliders you want aren't checked they won't show up in this window. Check the ones you want and then adjust them, they may also be muted which could be your problem.

Complete shot in the dark, but did you have the connectors in place when you installed? I did, and couldn't get a peep out of the sound, despite Windows Control Panel telling me all was well - I took out the connectors and reseated them, whereupon the Realtek Demo Panel came up onscreen to confirm and the sound burst into life: it seems that the connectors have to be out when you install the Realtek drivers as they (the drivers) need to be in place before making the connections. If the connectors are already in place, then all you get is the sound of silence until you disconnect and then re-seat them.
My mobo's a GA-P35C-DS3R. I also had the GA-965P-DS3P and it was that board that threw up the problem - it's just the same with the P35.
