I'm new to RSS and using Ampetadesk on Windows 95.
Many RSS feeds, even including some Lockergnome feeds, don't seem to be updated very frequently.
Is this normal or is something wrong?

| I don't know Ampetadesk on Windows 95 but there must be an option in the program to set How often it checks for the feed.

| I'd say it's normal since the frequency of updates would vary from service to service. |

I had a careful look today at what's going on.
Many feeds get updated frequently - at least once or twice a day. So there isn't a general problem.
Some feeds don't get updated frequently by virtue of the very nature of the information they contain. Fair enough and not a problem.
However (and please forgive me if I'm wrong or am doing something silly), but the Lockergnome Windows Daily (full version) RSS feed doesn't seem to have changed for some days, and by its name and the email newsletter version I would have expected it to. Perhaps somebody could check? On my system the top item has been "Gridlock" every time I've looked over the last few days.
Just to repeat in case it's relevant, I'm using Amphetadesk on Windows 95.

AmphetaDesk hasn't been updated for years - which is most likely the source of your problem. Which URL are you pulling from, exactly? Could be an older / outdated one... |

It's http://www.lockergnome.com/windowsdaily.xml, and I only subscribed a week or so ago.
If you can suggest a better aggregator than works with Windows 95, I'd be very interested to try it.

After three days I finally found out what the problem was with the "Lockergnome Windows Daily" RSS feed. I was using the URL www.lockergnome.com/windowsdaily.xml . I got that URL from Amphetadesk's "Add A Channel" list of feeds.
I've now changed to using lockergnome.com/rss/windowsdaily.php (as is currently listed on the Lockergnome pages) and that is working properly, keeping in line with the corresponding email version of the newsletter.
All the other Lockergnome RSS feeds that I subscribe to seem to be working fine.
I have some problems with some other feeds not being updated but that is almost certainly the fault of the feed supplier in each case, so I won't bother going into details.
